File Types: PDF files now in the majority

For the quickest turnaround time and the fewest potential problems, we ask that you send us files in either the PDF, EPS or Postscript format. By using these types of files, many layout, graphical, and font problems are avoided.

PDF files are now one of the most common as well as best file types to use, though if created incorrectly they can result in poor image quality, production delays, and extra costs incurred. Before you create a PDF file for printing, we suggest you consult our page "How to Create PDF Files" to insure that your file will perform exactly as you intend it to.

EPS files are easily created by almost any design software in use today, as well by many popular programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  For a step by step explanation, see our "Postscript How-To" page.

In order for Postscript files to image correctly, we ask that you use a Lino 330 or 530 printer driver when creating Postscript files. Or if you use Microsoft Publisher, use the MS Publisher Imagesetter print driver that comes with the program. These drivers allow for the Tabloid sizes typically required when imaging your print job. These drivers also give you the higher resolution demanded by the offset printing process.

For those of you using Quark, we prefer raw Quark files over EPS or PDF files. Just be sure you include any fonts and graphic images (in a high resolution tiff format), and be certain that your color management is truly managed - that is, spot colors and process colors are not combined on one document.

Sending Files

We accept electronic print files in various file formats and media or transmission types. Most common of the file transmission methods is email, whereby your print file is attached to an email message sent to our address. We also offer secure FTP sites for high volume accounts, or we can accept print files on several different kinds of storage mediums, the most common of which are CD-R's.
